Carfagno Earns NEWMAC Volleyball Player of the Week Honors

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College's Sydney Carfagno was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the period ending November 2.

Carfagno rallied the Blue to a pair of five set victories on the week. Trailing two sets to none on Tuesday at Coast Guard, Wellesley came back to take the next three sets as the senior racked up 23 kills and 10 digs in the 3-2 victory. On Saturday, Carfagno added 22 more kills as well as 14 digs, three aces and four total blocks to help the Blue top Springfield, 3-2, in a five set marathon on Senior Day.

For the season, Carfagno has a team leading 337 kills and 316 digs. Her 337 kills are the second highest total in the NEWMAC this season. 

The Blue will be in action tonight when they take on Wheaton in the NEWMAC Tournament Quarterfinals at 7:00 PM in Norton, Mass.
