Blue Volleyball Set to Take on Clark in NEWMAC Tournament
WELLESLEY, Mass. – Sixth-seeded Wellesley College volleyball will visit third-seeded Clark University in the quarterfinals of the 2016 New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Volleyball Championship on Tuesday, November 1, at 7:00 PM. The volleyball championship consists of seven teams that will compete for the title which will begin on Tuesday, November 1st with the quarterfinal round.
2016 marks the second year in-a-row that the Blue and Cougars will face-off in the opening round of the NEWMAC Championship. Last year, the teams played a thrilling five-set match with Clark advancing to the semifinals thanks to a 15-8 victory in the deciding fifth game. Clark has won four-straight matches between the two sides, including a 3-0 victory on October 11 of this season. Wellesley's last win in the series came in 2013, a 3-0 sweep.
After an impressive 10-0 regular season record in conference play MIT has earned the No. 1 seed and will host the semifinals and championship rounds. Also hosting a quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday is No. 2 Springfield (9-1) and No. 4 Babson (7-3). No. 5 Coast Guard (6-4) will travel to the Beavers, while No. 7 WPI (5-5) will travel to the Pride.
