BEVERLY, Mass. -- The New England Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (NEWVA) has released its 2019 NEWVA Annual Awards honoring the region's Player of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Coach of the Year, the All-New England Teams and the All-Rookie Team. Wellesley College volleyball junior Lauren Gedney (Huntersville, N.C.) has been selected to the NEWVA First Team and sophomore Izzy Seebold (Concord, N.C.) has been named to the NEWVA Second Team.

Lauren Gedney | JR | Huntersville, N.C. | NEWVA All-New England First Team

A New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) First Team All-Conference and AVCA Division III All-Region Team selection in 2019, Gedney earns her first NEWVA All-New England recognition since she earned a spot on the NEWVA All-Rookie team in 2017. Gedney leads the Blue in kills (427), kills per set (4.15) and attack percentage (.315), and recorded the 1,000th kill of her Wellesley career earlier this season in five-set win of Amherst on Oct. 18. Gedney currently ranks 18th in the NCAA in kills per set and 24th in points per set (4.54), while her 427 total kills is 30th in the nation.

Izzy Seebold | SO | Concord, N.C. | NEWVA All-New England Second Team

Seebold has totaled 1,062 assists, 10.21 assists per set, 56 aces, and 200 digs in 104 sets played, earning NEWMAC Second Team, AVCA All-Region, and now NEWVA All-New England Second Team honors as a sophomore. The first Wellesley setter with 1,000+ assists in a season since Victoria Peng '11 in 2008 (1,445), Seebold finished the year ranked second in the NEWMAC in assists per set and fifth in aces per set. Her 10.21 assists per set is good for 19th overall in the NCAA.
