Wellesley Volleyball Swept by Brandeis, 3-0

WALTHAM, Mass. - Brandeis controlled the offensive rhythm in a 3-0, (25-16, 25-17, 25-15) win over Wellesley College volleyball on Thursday at Gosman Center.

Senior Emerson White (Lexington, Ky.) led the Judges (11-13) with 11 kills, while teammates Sydney Bent (Raleigh, N.C.) and Stephanie Borr (Westfield, N.J.) each had 11 digs. First year Kaija Kunze-Hoeg (Eagan, Minn.) had 16 kills for the Blue (8-16). Kunze-Hoeg now has 400 digs on the season. 

A four-point run highlighted by a kill from Bent gave the Judges a 15-8 lead in the first set. A five-point run for the Blue cut the lead down to two, with junior Kate Salembier (Sierra Madre, Calif.) earning a kill. The Judges won nine of the final 10 points, with a service ace from junior Ella Pereira (Redondo Beach, Calif.) closing out a 25-16 set.

The Judges pulled away in the middle of the second set and won an impressive 25-17 second set with 17 kills on a .412 hitting percentage, including back to back kills by sophomore Lara Verstovsek (Houston, Texas) finishing the set.

Brandeis won the first eight points of the third set. The Blue never got the score within six points in the 25-15 set, with the Judges completing their eighth 3-0 win of the season. 

The Blue wrap up their season at home against WPI on Saturday at 3:00 PM. The Judges travel to Springfield Saturday at 12:00 PM.
