Kunze-Hoeg Earns AVCA All-America Honorable Mention

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 2023 All-America teams for NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball on Tuesday. Wellesley College volleyball sophomore Kaija Kunze-Hoeg (Eagan, Minn.) was named a 2023 AVCA Division III Women's All-America Honorable Mention. Kunze-Hoeg is the first member of Wellesley volleyball to be recognized on the AVCA All-America Team since Nicole Doerges '22 earned an honorable mention in 2021.

Kunze-Hoeg registered 495 digs this season, the third most in a single season in program history, and her 5.05 digs per set ranked third in the NEWMAC. Kunze-Hoeg had at least 10 digs in all 25 games, recorded a 96% successful reception rate, and added 106 assists. 

The 2023 NCAA Division III class included 42 players, 14 on the first, second, and third teams. Juniata and NYU each had two players on the first team. Juniata and Northwestern-St. Paul lead the pack in terms of total number of All-Americans with four each, and NYU and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps both placed three players on the first three teams.
