Blue Place Third In Wellesley XC Invitational

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Junior Claire Anderson (Denver, Colorado) placed tenth, leading the way for the Blue in a third place finish at the Wellesley Invitational on Friday. Anderson finished with a new personal record of 19:30.1.

Lauren Selkin (Greenwich, Conn.) of Mount Holyoke College placed first with a time of 18:30.4. Niamh Kenney (Hanover, Mass.) and Erin Magill (South Duxbury, Vt.) placed second and third respectively for Brandeis. The Judges came away with the win scoring 33 points, followed by WPI (40), Wellesley (93), Mount Holyoke (97), and Regis (122).

Wellesley's Maya Bradbury (Freeport, Maine) recorded a time of 19:55.7, which earned the senior a spot in the top 20 finishers. Sophomore Maddie Carrington (Morris, Minn.) finished with a time of 20:17.7 in her first event. Just behind Carrington was senior Kaylee Hill (Hingham, Mass.) who posted a personal best of 20:19.0.

WPI came away with the victory in the men's meet, placing six of the top seven runners. David Reynolds finished in first place with a time of 15:59.7. Brandeis (45) placed second and behind them was Regis (85) in third.

Wellesley will travel to Dartmouth, Massachusetts for the Mass.-Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, September 18 at 11:00 AM.
