Ari Marks Places First at 5K UMass Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. -- Senior Ari Marks (Eagle Point, Ore.) set a new personal record and took first place with a time of 17:38.9 at the 5K UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday.

Marks led the way for the Blue, finishing three seconds ahead of Mount Holyoke's Lauren Selkin ( Greenwich, Conn.) who clocked in at 17:41.2. Bethaney Donnelly (Manchester, UK) ran a 17:47.6 which was good for third place. In the team scoring, WPI took the gold with 68 points and were led by junior Grace Hadley (North Reading, MA) who recorded a 18:30.0. In second place was Brandeis University with 83 points and in third came Mount Holyoke with 96. The Blue placed 6 out of 30 and totaled 174 points as a team.

Wellesley's Claire Anderson (Denver, Colorado) was the next best finisher for the Blue coming in at 18:59.4, a new personal record. Right next Anderson was Maya Bradbury (Freeport, Maine) who finished inside the top 20 with a time of 18:59.4. Senior Amy Tao (Hong Kong, China) clocked a 20:08.0 and Kaylee Hill (Hingham, Mass.) came in at 20:19.2, as both times were good enough to crack the top 100 out of 254 runners.

The top finisher for Wellesley in the 5K JV race was Lily Herold, who took fourth place with a time of 19:53.8.

Wellesley heads north for the Keene State Invitational on Saturday, October 2 at 10:00 AM.
