Blue Cross Country 18th at Connecticut College Invitational

WATERFORD, Conn. - Wellesley College cross country finished 18th at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday at Harkness Memorial State Park. Senior Claire Anderson (Denver, Colo.) paced the Blue with a 36th place finish and a time of 22:41.2 on the 6k course.

New York University first year Vivian Kane (Newton, Mass.) won the individual race with a time of 21:18.3. MIT won the meet (62) with three top-ten finishes, followed by St. Olaf College (110) in second place, and the Williams College (115) in third place.

Blue senior Elllie Murphy-Weise (San Francisco, Calif.) earned 74th place, running the 6k in 23:15.9. First years Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.), Claire Peng (Chapel Hill, N.C.) and Emily Brydges (Suffield, Conn.) were the other scorers for Wellesley. Whinney finished 92nd overall (23:31.2), followed by Peng in 118th (23:50.5) and Brydges in 163rd (24:30.5). 

Also running for the Blue was first year Simone Beauchamp (Aurora, Colo.) (25:15.1), sophomore Alicia Naranjo-Champion (El Monte, Calif.) (26:36. 0), senior Bethany Pasko (Wellesley, Mass.) (26:38.5), first years Elise Lanahan (Greenville, S.C.) (26:46.4), Olivia Torres (Coral Gables, Fla.) (26:59.2), and sophomores Jesenia Lopez (Fontana, Calif.) (27:44.3), and Sana Khan (Weston, Conn.) (28:32.5) .

The Blue return Sunday, October 30 for the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass. The NEWMAC Championships will begin at 11:00 AM.
