Bassett, Boots, Marks Named to NEWMAC 25th Year All-Cross Country Team

WELLESLEY, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced its 25-Year All-NEWMAC Cross Country Team on Wednesday. Among the selections were former Wellesley student-athletes Tracy Bassett (2002-2006), Randelle Boots (2009-2013), and Ari Marks (2018-2022).

Tracy Bassett is a member of the Wellesley College Athletics Hall of Fame, inducted in 2022. Bassett was a three-time individual NCAA qualifier in 2003, 2004, and 2005, and was named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-American in 2004. Bassett was also a four-time All-New England Region Team member, a four-time NEWMAC All-Conference runner, was the 2004 and 2005 NEWMAC Runner of the Year, and was part of Wellesley cross country teams that won the NEWMAC in 2002 and 2005.

Randelle Boots was a three-time individual NCAA qualifier in 2009, 2010, and 2011, and was named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-American in 2010 and 2011. Boots was a three-time All-New England Region Team member, a three-time NEWMAC All-Conference runner, and was the 2010 and 2011 NEWMAC Runner of the Year. Additionally, Boots was the NCAA Division III National Champion in the 2011 indoor mile event for track and field. 

Ari Marks was named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-American in 2021. Marks was a All-East Region Team member in 2021, a 2021 member of the NEWMAC All-Conference Team, was the 2021 NEWMAC Runner of the Year, and was part of a Wellesley Cross Country Team that finished 15th at the NCAA Division III National Cross Country Championships. Marks was the national runner up at the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championship in 2021. Additionally, Marks won the 5000m and 10000m events at the NCAA Division III Track and Field National Championships in 2022.

The NEWMAC 25-Year All-NEWMAC Teams are a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the NEWMAC athletic conference. The NEWMAC was formed in 1998, when the former New England Women's 8 Conference (NEW 8) voted to begin sponsoring conference play and championships for men.
