Wellesley Cross Country Takes 10th at UMass Dartmouth Invitational

DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Wellesley College cross country finished 10th against competition from all three NCAA divisions at the 5k UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Sunday at Robert Dowd Cross Country Course.

Division I Boston University won the team competition with a score of 26, followed by Division I Stonehill (94), and Division III Connecticut College (99). Wellesley finished 10th with a team score of 309, ahead of NEWMAC foes Mount Holyoke (405), Salve Regina (459),  Springfield (483), and Wheaton (586).

Sophomore Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) was Wellesley's top finisher, placing 14th with a personal-best time of 18:26.83.

First year Fiona Hanrahan (Falmouth, Maine) also made the top 30, finishing 26th with a time of 18:40.99. The other scorers for the Blue were sophomores Elise Lanahan (Greenville. S.C.) (19:29.32), Claire Peng (Chapel Hill, N.C.) (20:12.76), and first year Georgia Harms (Dubuque, Iowa) (20:30.90). Sophomore Simone Beauchamp (Aurora, Colo.) rounded out the competitors for the Blue with a time of 20:39.86.

The Blue return to action on Saturday, September 30 at the Keene State Invitational in Keene, N.H.
