Wellesley Cross Country, Whinney Win Keene State Invitational
KEENE, N.H. – Wellesley College cross country won the 5k Keene State Invitational on Saturday and sophomore Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) captured first place with a time of 18:32.7.
Wellesley finished with a score of 80 to narrowly defeat Brandeis (83). Host Keene State placed third with a score of 110, followed by Mount Holyoke (141), and Westfield State (147).
First year Fiona Hanrahan (Falmouth, Maine) earned sixth place with a time of 18:53.1 and sophomore Elise Lanahan (Greenville. S.C.) placed 17th with a time of 19:31.9.
Sophomore Simone Beauchamp (Aurora, Colo.) and first year Georgia Harms (Dubuque, Iowa) rounded out the scorers for the Blue with times of 19:47.8 and 20:07.6.
Also competing for Wellesley was sophomore Claire Peng (Chapel Hill, N.C.) (20:09.5), junior Charlotte Adams (Cincinnati, Ohio) (20:40.2), and sophomore Olivia Torres (Coral Gables, Fla.) (21:02.1).
