Blue Cross Country Takes Third at Suffolk Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Ella Whinney (Madison, Wis.) and first year Fiona Hanrahan (Falmouth, Maine) each had top-ten finishes for Wellesley College cross country, who finished third as a team at the 6k Suffolk Invitational at Franklin Park on Saturday afternoon.

Colby won the team competition with a score of 62, followed by Bowdoin (64), and then Wellesley (114). American International College junior Fransiscah Cherotich (Kapenguria, Kenya) won the individual competition with a time of 23:00.

Whinney finished fifth overall with a time of 23:19 while Hanrahan was sixth with a time of 23:22. Sophomore Elise Lanahan (Greenville. S.C.) finished 22nd with a time of 23:59 and classmates Simone Beauchamp (Aurora, Colo.) (38th, 24:45) and Clair Peng (Chapel Hill, N.C.) (43rd, 25:03) rounded out the top five for the Blue.

Also running for Wellesley was junior Charlotte Adams (Cincinnati, Ohio) (61st, 25:19), first year Georgia Harms (Dubuque, Iowa) (63rd, 25:21), sophomore Olivia Torres (Coral Gables, Fla.) (88th, 26:05), and junior Jesenia Lopez (Fontana, Calif.) (129th, 28:05).

Next up, Wellesley competes at the NEWMAC Championships, hosted by Smith College, at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 28.
