Wellesley College volleyball junior Rachel Xu (Beijing, China) and sophomore Kaija Kunze-Hoeg (Eagan, Minn.) were each named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.  The 2023 Academic All-District Women's Volleyball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The award is given to athletes who in addition to being impactful on their respective team, have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50, and have achieved second year status at their academic institution.

Kunze-Hoeg Earns AVCA All-America Honorable Mention

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 2023 All-America teams for NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball on Tuesday. Wellesley College volleyball sophomore Kaija Kunze-Hoeg (Eagan, Minn.) was named a 2023 AVCA Division III Women's All-America Honorable Mention. Kunze-Hoeg is the first member of Wellesley volleyball to be recognized on the AVCA All-America Team since Nicole Doerges '22 earned an honorable mention in 2021.

Four Named to NEWMAC Fall All-Sportsmanship Team

On Tuesday, the NEWMAC announced the 2023 Fall All-Sportsmanship Team. Senior Kate Salembier (Sierra Madre, Calif.), juniors Maya Benway (Harvard, Mass.) and Carrie Huang (Seattle, Wash.) and sophomore Emily Brydges (Suffield, Conn.) represented the Blue on the All-Sportsmanship Team.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced the 2023 Division III Women's Volleyball All-Region teams and award winners. Wellesley College volleyball sophomore Kaija Kunze-Hoeg (Eagan, Minn.) was named to the Region 2 All-Region First Team while first year Kate Giang (Corte Madera, Calif.) received an honorable mention.

Giang Receives NEWMAC Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Year Award

Wellesley College volleyball first year Kate Giang (Corte Madera, Calif.) was named the 2023 NEWMAC Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Year on Wednesday. Giang is the ninth student-athlete in program history to receive the honor, and the first since Yasmine Reece '19 won the award in 2015.

he 2023 NEWMAC Women's Volleyball Academic All-Conference Team was released on Friday. Among the honorees were four members of Wellesley College volleyball. Seniors Kate Salembier (Sierra Madre, Calif.) led the Blue with a third straight trip to Academic All-Conference Team. Juniors Mikayla Tansil (Warren, Mich.) and Rachel Xu (Beijing, China) both made the list for the second consecutive year and sophomore Kaija Kunze-Hoeg (Eagan, Minn.) was honored in her first year of eligibility.

Blue Volleyball Wins 3-0 Over Mount Holyoke on Senior Day

Wellesley College volleyball finished its regular season with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 26-24) win over Mount Holyoke on Saturday at Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse. Prior to the game Wellesley acknowledged senior Kate Salembier (Sierra Madre, Calif.) for her contributions to the Blue.

Blue Volleyball Staves Off Brandeis Comeback in 3-2 Victory

Wellesley College volleyball earned a hard-fought 3-2 (25-23, 25-22, 14-25, 19-25, 15-13) non-conference victory over visiting Brandeis University on Thursday evening at Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse.  With Wellesley (12-12 overall) leading the match 2-0, Brandeis (9-15 overall) rallied to take the next two sets. However, the Blue rallied in the final set to earn the 3-2 win.

WPI saved a match point and won crucial fourth and fifth sets to defeat Wellesley College volleyball 3-2 (25-20, 17-25, 20-25, 25-19, 16-14) on Tuesday at Harrington Auditorium in a NEWMAC contest.

Blue Volleyball Picks Up Wins over Southern Maine, Keene State

October 21, 2023

Backed by consistent play on both offense and defense, Wellesley College volleyball won both halves of a tri-match with Southern Maine and Keene State with identical 3-0 scores on Saturday at Keene State University. First year Kate Giang (Corte Madera, Calif.) had 21 kills across the two matches while classmate Madeline Zornek (Orlando, Fla.) had 34 assists and 11 service aces on the day. Sophomore libero Kaija Kunze-Hoeg (Eagan, Minn.) led the team with 30 digs over the six sets.

Junior Riley Donahue (South Windsor, Conn.) had 17 kills and nine digs to lead Springfield to a 3-1 (25-21, 25-18, 18-25, 25-19) win over Wellesley College volleyball in NEWMAC play on Tuesday at Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse.

Wellesley Volleyball Falls to Clark, 3-1

Senior Camille Flurry (Athens, Ga.) tallied 15 kills, six blocks, and a .452 hitting percentage to help Clark defeat Wellesley College volleyball 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-13, 25-11) in a NEWMAC match at Hurst Courts on Saturday.
