Rowing has been an integral part of my Wellesley College experience, from the first day I set foot on campus to the last few hours as we said goodbye too soon. The first Wellesley students I ever met were rowers, the first people to help me register for my classes were my teammates, and the first people I cried to on campus were my coaches. Without this sport I would have none of my closest friends, invaluable life skills and uncompromising drive for success.
While it's easy to look at how our time ended with bitterness, I find (some) salve in the knowledge that I didn't waste a moment while at Wellesley. Some look back on their four years and remember the beauty of sunrise after an all-nighter in Clapp, I count myself lucky to have greeted that sunrise every day. I raced in the Head of the Charles, the NEWMAC championships, and the Seven Sisters Championship Regatta (may she rest in peace). I learned about resilience, trust, and the true meaning of strength, both on and off the water.
More than anything, I learned the value of using your time well. This isn't the spring I wanted for myself, my team, or anyone in athletics. But I am more than grateful for the time I did have, and know that whatever I commit myself to next I will do for and with the strength of the teammates I have had at Wellesley--and I will not let them down.
