LeadBLUE: Wellesley Athletics Welcomes Victoria Garrick on Feb. 8

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College Athletics will welcome Victoria Garrick, a former Division I volleyball player, TED Talk speaker, and mental health advocate as part of its LeadBLUE Speaker Series on Tuesday, February 8 at 7:00 PM EST in the Jewett Arts Center Auditorium. The event is sponsored by Friends of Wellesley Athletics and is open to all student-athletes and members of the Wellesley College community who are in the campus testing protocol. Capacity will be limited to the first 192 people in attendance.

Victoria was a four year starter at USC, where she won a PAC-12 Championship and finished her career with the top five most digs in program history. Victoria first began sharing her story of how she battled and overcame depression and anxiety in her 2017 TED Talk, "The Hidden Opponent," which has been viewed over 420,000 times. She has been featured in The Players' Tribune, People Magazine, USA Today College, and has amassed over 1.5M followers on her social media platforms where she's known for her positive media campaign, #RealPost. As the founder of mental health non-profit, The Hidden Opponent, Victoria now tours the country as a public speaker and podcast host, sharing her story in hopes of raising awareness and destigmatizing the conversation around mental health. 

Wellesley's LeadBLUE program cultivates the growth of leaders within athletics, in the classroom, and beyond. In alignment with the mission of the college, this program prepares student-athletes for effective, practical leadership, instills the values of discipline, critical thinking, and responsibility in their pursuit of excellence.
