Support the LeadBLUE Community Service Challenge to Benefit the Wellesley Students’ Aid Society, Nov. 1 - Dec. 5

WELLESLEY, Mass – Wellesley College Athletics and the Wellesley Students' Aid Society, Inc. (WSAS) are happy to announce our third annual LeadBLUE Community Service Challenge!

Students, faculty, staff and all employees of the College can help support our student community by participating in our toiletry and clothing drive. All items will be donated to the WSAS Clothes Closet. Donations will be collected in the Keohane Sports Center Front Lobby from November 1st until December 5, 2023. The final total will be announced at the December 5 Wellesley basketball game vs. Lasell College.

This year, in addition to clean, gently used clothing, we are specifically encouraging donations of toiletries and personal care items, including:

  • Pads
  • Lotion
  • Body Wash
  • Petroleum Jelly
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Toothpaste
  • Toothbrushes
  • Deodorant
  • Chapstick

In the first two years of the LeadBLUE Community Service Challenge, Wellesley Athletics has collected hundreds of items to be donated to the WSAS Clothes Closet on campus. Last year, we collected a total of 328 items! Can we get to 329 this year!?

The WSAS Clothes Closet is full of donated, gently-used clothing and serves as a resource for students who may not have the means to purchase clothing when they need it. All Wellesley students are invited to come to the Clothes Closet and pick out, try on, and take with them any item free of charge.

The Wellesley Students' Aid Society, Inc. (WSAS) has a rich heritage dating back to the founding of Wellesley College and the belief that all women should have access to education regardless of means. Founded in 1878 for the purpose of providing funds for women who could not afford a Wellesley education, WSAS was incorporated as an independent nonprofit in 1916, giving it the flexibility to provide aid when and where students need it most.
