WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College Athletics hosted its annual Wellesley Athletics & Recreation Awards on Tuesday, April 30 at Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse.

2024 Wellesley Athletics & Recreation Awards Winners:

Most Outstanding Contribution Award - Awarded to a student who has made significant and positive contribution to the PERA department as demonstrated by their vital involvement.

Friends of Wellesley Athletics Honor Award - Given to those individuals who have rendered outstanding service and support to sports and recreation at Wellesley College.

  • Andy Shennan | Provost of Wellesley College from 2010-2024; former Dean of the College (2004-2009) and Associate Dean of the College (1999-2004)

Rookie of the Year - Established in 2012, Rookie of the Year is awarded to a traditional first-year varsity student-athlete based on athletic performance.

Club Sports Outstanding Leadership Award - Given to a senior who best demonstrates leadership in Club Sports by working diligently to make positive and significant contributions to their team and to the Club Sports community.

  • Em Boxer '24 and Aspen Helgeson '24 | Archery

Outstanding Senior Employee - Given to those who have made significant and positive contributions to the PERA Department, as demonstrated by their leadership skills, going above and beyond, problem solving and commitment to a safe and welcoming environment for the campus community.

  • Elle Petra '24 | KSC Front Desk Student Assistant

Club Sports Athletic Excellence Award - Given to a senior who has competed in club sports and shown athletic excellence over the course of their career.

  • Catie Leuba '24 | Rugby

Outstanding Senior Athlete - Established in 2012, this award is presented to a graduating student-athlete in recognition of their athletic accomplishments over the course of their entire Wellesley College athletic career.

Linda K. Vaughan Award - Given to an individual who has demonstrated relentless passion in support of Wellesley's accomplishments in recreational and competitive athletics and who has shown team spirit, creativity, courage and leadership.

  • Bonnie Dix | Head Swimming & Diving Coach from 1987-2024

Barbara Barnes Hauptfuhrer '49 Scholar-Athlete Award - Awarded annually to that Wellesley College senior who best combines excellence in scholarship, leadership, sportsmanship and athletic achievement.

Blue Pride Award - Given to a team that supports other teams at their competitions, shows genuine interest in other teams' successes, demonstrates the best of Wellesley Blue's values through positive sportsmanship, conveys spirit and enthusiasm about their team and sport, and actively participates in Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Wellesley Athletics strives for excellence at the conference at the conference, regional, and national levels, while providing opportunities for students to achieve their potential and learn the values of discipline, leadership, critical thinking, and responsibility to oneself and others.
