#16 Trinity Downs Blue Field Hockey, 4-1

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The 16th-ranked Trinity field hockey team recorded a 4-1 victory over host Wellesley College in non-conference action on Saturday morning in Wellesley. The win lifts the Bantams to 7-2 overall, while the Blue's season ledger evens at 6-6.

Trinity scored three first-half goals and then added a fourth midway through the second to build a 4-0 lead. Wellesley added a score late in the second, but couldn't make up the deficit. 

Trinity opened the scoring just four minutes into the first half, as a long hit was tracked down by the Bantam's Hadley Duncan. Duncan tapped the ball into the circle where Caroline Snite sent it into the back of the cage for a 1-0 Trinity advantage.

The Bantams added a second goal in the 24th minute when Payson Sword scored off of a rebound, and then pushed it to 3-0 after a penalty corner score from Duncan, assisted by Courtney Wynne and Sword. 

At the half, Trinity held an 11-7 advantage in shots, while Wellesley held a 6-5 edge in penalty corners. 

After 17 minutes of scoreless hockey to open up the second half, Trinity stretched its lead to 4-0 as Julia Rivera collected a rebound and pass it to Sarah Duncan for the score. 

Wellesley got on the board in the 62nd minutes, as Allison Robbins passed a rebounded shot from the right side of the circle to Whitney Reid who sent a rocket into the back of the cage for the Blue's lone score.

Overall, Trinity held an 18-13 advantage in shots, but Wellesley got the edge in penalty corners, out drawing the Bantams 11-10. 

In net for Wellesley, Brit Mscisz suffered the loss picking up five saves in 52 minutes of work. Becky Hamilton saved one in 18 minutes. For Trinity, Gina Dinallo and Anne Scalamnbrino combined for the shutout, each making one stop.

Wellesley returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to Conn. College for a 4:00pm start. Trinity next plays on Tuesday, at UMass Dartmouth at 7:00pm.
