WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Two members of the Wellesley College field hockey team were named to the 2012 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Region Team. The Blue were represented by sophomore Nathalie Gruet, a first-team selection, and senior Emily Lewis, who earned second-team honors. In addition, Lewis will represent Wellesley in the NFHCA Division III Senior Game that will be played at William Smith College on Saturday, Nov. 17 at 4:00 p.m.
Gruet earns her second straight All-Region selection, a year after being named to the first team as a rookie. A two-time All-NEWMAC selection from Acton, Massachusetts, she finished second on Wellesley in scoring, recording 27 points on 13 goals and one assist. Gruet picked up three game-winners this season, contributing as Wellesley's center midfielder.
Lewis makes her second appearance on the All-Region team, after being named to the second-team last season. A three-time All-NEWMAC honoree from Weston, Connecticut, she ended the season as the team's leading scorer. Lewis recorded 31 points on 15 goals and one assist, recording four game-winning goals this season at center forward. A four-year starter for the Blue, she ends her career at Wellesley with 40 goals and 11 assists for a total of 91 points.
