Blue Field Hockey Garners Four NEWMAC All-Conference Selections

Blue Field Hockey Garners Four NEWMAC All-Conference Selections

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released the 2015 Field Hockey All-Conference Team on Tuesday and Wellesley College field hockey has earned four selections, including a conference-best three first team All-Conference awards.

Blue seniors Hannah Flesch (Rockville, Md.) and Anissa Sridhar (London, Ontario, Canada) and junior Courtney Peterson (Glastonbury, Conn.) have all earned first team All-Conference selections, while sophomore Emmy Hamilton (New York, N.Y.) has been named to the All-Conference second team.

A NEWMAC All-Conference selection in all four years of her collegiate career, Flesch earns her second consecutive first team All-Conference honor. The senior forward has notched 10 goals and two assists in 2015, while showing her versatility by playing at both forward and midfield this season. Selected to play in the NFHCA Senior Game, the Rockville, Md. native earned NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week honors on September 28, following a week in which she scored game-winning goals in back-to-back contests for the Blue.

Wellesley's center forward, Sridhar leads the Blue with 13 goals and 32 points this season. A three-time all-conference selection, this is her second consecutive first team All-Conference honor, following a 2014 season that also saw the London, Ontario native earn all-region and All-America honors. Sridhar leads the team with five game-winning goals in 19 games this season, perhaps none bigger than her overtime game-winner over Smith in last weekend's NEWMAC semifinals. Named the NEWMAC Offensive Player of the Week on October 5, Sridhar was also selected to play in the NFHCA Senior Game.

Peterson grabs her first All-Conference honor in her third season in Blue. The junior midfielder put up 11 goals and four assists to finish second on the team with 26 points in 19 games. Peterson also found the back of the cage at the right time on more than one occasion this fall, finishing second on the squad with four game-winning goals. A native of Glastonbury, Conn., Peterson leads the Blue with two defensive saves on the season.

A sophomore defender from New York, N.Y., Hamilton also earns her first All-Conference selection in 2015, grabbing a place on the NEWMAC second team. The backbone of the Blue's defensive unit, Hamilton has helped Wellesley remain among the nation's best in goals against average throughout the season. As Wellesley's sweeper, Hamilton plays both fly and trail on defensive corners and earned NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors on October 5. She also added a goal and an assist for the Blue this season.

Wellesley College field hockey will make the program's third-consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament this Saturday, November 14, versus the winner of Becker and UNE at Bowdoin College's Howard Ryan Field in Brunswick, Maine.
