Meghan Peterson '15 To Run Boston Marathon To Benefit Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

When the more than 30,000 participants in Monday’s Boston Marathon pass Wellesley College, most won’t know the faces, but they will hear the students cheering. They’ll see the signs and they’ll know, for as far as they have come, they still have that far to go. For marathon rookie Meghan Peterson ’15, reaching her alma mater and seeing her sister Courtney Peterson ‘17 may be even more important than the finish line on Boylston Street.

The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced the Longstreth/NFHCADivision III All-Region teams on Monday and Wellesley seniors Courtney Peterson (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Nikki Sharkin (Summit, N.J.) have been named to the New England East Region First Team, while junior Emmy Hamilton (New York, N.Y.) has earned a spot on the New England East Region Second Team.

The New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) announced the 2016 Field Hockey All-Conference team on Tuesday and Wellesley College seniors Courtney Peterson (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Nikki Sharkin (Summit, N.J.) and junior Emmy Hamilton (New York, N.Y.) have each been honored by the conference for their play this season. Peterson and Sharkin each earned a spot on the All-Conference first team, while Hamilton grabbed a spot on the All-Conference second team.

Wellesley College field hockey seniors Courtney Peterson (Glastonbury, Conn.) and Nikki Sharkin (Summit, N.J.) have been selected to play in the 2016 Victory Sports Tours/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Senior Game. The gmae will take place on Saturday, November 19, at 4:00 PM at William Smith College. In all, 60 student-athletes, including the Wellesley duo, were selected to participate in the game, while 12 were picked as alternates.

Mount Holyoke College junior Kaitlin Braz (Tolland, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal with 11:11 remaining in the second overtime period to send the fifth-seeded Lyons to a 2-1 victory over fourth-seeded Wellesley College field hockey in the quarterfinals of the New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Championship on Tuesday afternoon.

Fourth-seeded Wellesley College field hockey will host fifth-seeded Mount Holyoke College in the quarterfinals of the 2016 New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Championship on Tuesday, November 1, at 3:00 PM. The championship consists of six teams that will compete for the title which will begin on Tuesday, November 1, with the quarterfinal round.
