CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Three different Engineers scored as the Blue fell 3-0 on the road at MIT on Saturday afternoon.

The Blue suffer its first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) loss and drop to 4-1 in conference play and 6-5 overall. MIT has now won four straight games and improves to 10-4 overall and 5-1 in the NEWMAC.

Just over two minutes into the contest, MIT earned a penalty stroke and sent Lucy Kitch-Peck (Bethlehem, Penn.) to take the shot. The senior scored her third goal of the year and gave the Engineers an early 1-0 lead. The Blue got off one shot on goal in the first half, coming from Rose Weseley (New York, N.Y.) but was saved by keeper Juliana Strother (Mequon, Wisc.). Wellesley goalkeeper Kyra Deehr-Lewis (Newtown, Penn.) recorded three big saves in the second quarter and MIT took the 1-0 lead into the half.

The Engineers came out of halftime with a jolt, scoring two goals in the third quarter. The first came off a breakaway by junior Paige Forester (Glencoe, Ill.) at the 35:58 mark. Under three minutes later, Emily Genevriere (San Jose, Calif.) added an unassisted goal and sent the Blue to a 3-0 deficit. Wellesley attempted to get back into the game in the fourth quarter, as Cass Novello (Scotch Plains, N.J.) fired two shots on goal that were both saved. The Blue failed to score a goal in back to back games and fell 3-0.

Wellesley returns home to host rival Babson on Tuesday, October 19, at 4:00 PM. MIT looks to keep its streak going with a road matchup at Wheaton College on Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
