DUDLEY, Mass. - Sophomore Rose Weseley (New York, N.Y.) had a goal and an assist for Wellesley College field hockey in their 3-0 shutout road victory over Nichols on Wednesday at Vendetti Field.

Weseley helped the Blue (5-6) outshoot the Bison (5-7) 27-3, with Weseley putting four shots on goal. First year Ceci Miller (Lewiston, Maine) and junior River Schiff (Potomac, Md.) each scored for the Blue, while sophomore Camille Newman (Manhattan, N.Y.) picked up her first assist of the season. Sophomore Sophia Venable (Troy, N.Y.) recorded 15 saves for Nichols.

After a scoreless first half, The Blue struck less than a minute into the third quarter with Miller scoring her first career goal. Late in the third quarter Weseley would bring Wellesley's lead to 2-0 when she found the back of the cage on a shot assisted by Newman.

With less than two minutes remaining in the contest Schiff took advantage of Weseley's set up to put away a fifth goal of the season and extend the lead to 3-0. Schiff leads the Blue on season goals.

Junior Kyra Deehr-Lewis (Newtown, Pa.) earned a fifth career shutout with three saves for Wellesley.

Wellesley finishes their four-game road trip with a NEWMAC game at Smith on Saturday at 1:00 PM. The Bison take on Clark at home next Tuesday at 7:00 PM.
