Ali Maloof Joins Wellesley Softball Coaching Staff as Assistant Coach

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Keri O'Meara, Head Softball Coach and PERA Associate Professor of the Practice at Wellesley College, has announced the hiring of Ali Maloof as Assistant Softball Coach. Maloof joins the Blue as part of the NCAA's Coaching Enhancement Grant program.

The most decorated student-athlete in Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) softball program history, Maloof comes to Wellesley after a three-year stint as an assistant coach at her alma mater. Last season, she helped guide the SNHU pitching staff to the second best Division II earned run average (ERA) in the nation. She has also worked as the U18 Head Softball Coach and as a Pitching and Hitting Coach at the NH Sportsplex in Bedford, N.H.

A four-time Northeast-10 All-Conference selection, Maloof was the program's first All-American, earning the honor in both 2014 and 2015. She was named the Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Year in 2013, 2014, and 2015, while also earning Northeast-10 Player of the Year honors as a senior. She helped guide the Penmen to back-to-back Northeast-10 Conference championships in 2014 and 2015, and led Southern New Hampshire to its first NCAA Division II East Regional title in 2015, as well as its first berth in the NCAA Division II East Super Regional.

Maloof was chosen as the Daktronics/Division II CCA East Region Pitcher of the Year in both 2014 and 2015, and garnered the East Region Player of the Year distinction in 2015. She was a 2014 and 2015 National Fastpitch Coaches' Association (NFCA) First Team All-Region honoree, a 2015 Capital One Academic All-District Choice, and a 2015 Capital One Academic All-American. She holds multiple SNHU program records, including: career hits (234), career runs scored (135), career triples (11), and career batting average (.374). As a pitcher, Maloof holds the program mark for strikeouts (808) and innings pitched (711) and is third all-time in ERA (1.82).

A native of Norwood, Massachusetts. Maloof earned her B.S. in Psychology with a minor in Education from SNHU before going on obtain her an M.S. in Psychology and a Certificate in Athletic Administration from SNHU.
