Blue Softball's Young Claims NEWMAC Pitcher of the Week Honors

WESTWOOD, Mass. - Sophomore Lauren Young (Fresno, Calif.) of Wellesley College softball was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 30, 2023 following two complete game pitching performances this past week.

Last Friday against Emerson, Young threw seven innings allowing just one run while striking out three. On Saturday versus WPI, Young was in top form. The sophomore took the circle and tossed a complete game shutout over the Engineers, earning the win with four strikeouts while only allowing five hits across seven innings.

Young finished the season with five wins and 42 strikeouts over 82 innings of work.
