BEVERLY, Mass. – First year Sarah Wicker (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) threw a gem in game one to help Wellesley College softball split a pair of non-conference contests with Endicott College on Wednesday.

Wicker registered a complete-game shutout with 10 strikeouts over seven innings for the Blue (13-13 Overall). The first year lowered her season ERA to a team-best 1.51 with the performance.

Endicott retaliated with seven runs in game two. Sophomore Julianna Roche (North Andover, Mass.) went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a double for the Gulls (16-7 Overall).

Wicker did it all for the Blue on both offense and defense. In addition to a top notch pitching performance, the first year hit a pair of doubles for her team.

Endicott sophomore Analise Grady (Reading, Mass.) and Wicker engaged in a pitcher's duel for the first six innings. Wicker retired nine consecutive batters from the first through fourth innings.

Wellesley nearly got on the board in the top of the fifth inning. First year Kyra Parsons (Boston, Mass.) singled and stole second. Then Wicker ripped a shot off of the shortstop's glove and reached second while advancing Parsons to third. Grady settled down and induced a popup and a fly out to keep the shutout intact.

The Blue got on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh. A wild pitch allowed pinch runner Andrea Delgado (Miami, Fla.) to advance home. Wicker earned a strikeout to finish off the stellar performance.

Wellesley recorded six base hits as a team. Endicott was limited to three hits. Grady struck out five batters across seven innings.

Later in the inning, grad student Katie Watts (Swampscott, Mass.) hit a shot over left field to bring home another pair of runs. Roche added another run with an RBI double to left in the bottom half of the sixth.
