Wellesley Fencing Goes 3-3 at Northeast Conference Meet

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College fencing team went 3-3 at Saturday's New England Conference meet at MIT, posting wins again BU, UNH, and MIT, and falling to BC, Brandeis, and Browen.

Wellesley won all three events against BU, taking foil 8-1, epee 9-0, and sabre 5-4 and finishing 22-5 overall. Wellesley also won all three weapons against UNH, posting a total of 24-3, with wins of 8-1 in foil, 9-0 in epee, and 7-2 in sabre. Against MIT, the Blue went 9-0 in foil and 8-1 in Epee, while falling 0-9 in sabre. This brought the score to 17-10 overall.

Against BC, the Blue posted 3-6 losses in foil and sabre but won 5-4 in epee, which brought the overall finish to 11-16. The Blue suffered a close loss to Brandeis, with an overall score of 13-14. Wellesley posted wins of 5-4 in foil and 6-3 in epee, but lost 2-7 in sabre. Finishing the day was a 9-18 loss to Browen. The Blue posted a 0-9 loss in foil and a 3-6 loss in epee but won 6-3 in sabre.
