10 Wellesley Fencers Named NFC Academic All-Conference

Wellesley had 10 fencers named to the Northeast Fencing Conference Academic All-Conference Team

WELLESLEY, Mass. - On Wednesday 10 members of the Wellesley College fencing team were named to the Northeast Fencing Conference (NFC) Academic All-Conference Team. Additionally, Wellesley earned team Academic-All Conference honors with a combined cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher (on a 4.0 scale).

To make the Academic All-Conference team, an individual must have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), they must be on the roster for at least one term during the academic year, and the GPA must include grades for the fall of the current season and two consecutive grading periods (making first years ineligible). 

Seniors Hunter Dodrill (Boca Raton, Fla.), Alexia Gilioli (New York, N.Y.), Kimberley Kimura (Los Angeles, Calif.), and Sejal Saxena (Chappaqua, N.Y.) led the squad with their third striaght Academic All-Conference honor. Classmate Isabella Stewart (Scarsdale, N.Y.) made her second Academic All-Conference team, as did junior Edith Po (Bernardsville, N.J.).

Making their first appearance on the Academic All-Conference team were sophomores Ella Boodell (Edgemont, N.Y.), Makana Burch (Portland, Ore.), Mia Chao (Washington, D.C.), and Elena Vona (Millstone, N.J.).

Additionally, Kimura was recently named to the Eastern Women's Fencing Conference (EWFC) Academic All-Conference Team.

Founded in 1992, the Northeast Fencing Conference's mission is to support intercollegiate fencing in and around New England. The league organizes a round-robin schedule of dual meet competitions for the fencing programs at all member institutions. The member institutions are a mix of both NCAA varsity programs and student-organized club programs.
