12 Fencers to Represent Wellesley at NCAA Northeast Regional

WELLESLEY, Mass. - Wellesley College fencing will be represented by 12 fencers at the NCAA Northeast Regional, which takes place at Harvard's Gordon Indoor Track in Cambridge, Mass. on Sunday.

The Blue will see a mix of classes represented at NCAA Regionals, with four seniors, a junior, three sophomores, and four first years making up the qualifiers. Seniors Kimberley Kimura (Los Angeles, Calif.) and Alexia Gilioli (New York, N.Y.) both finished in the top 30 for their respective weapons last year at the NCAA Regionals. Wellesley's qualified fencers are:

Admission will be free to all spectators. Following a play-in round of competition, all quarterfinals will have 35 fencers (unless there are less than 35 entries), all semifinals will have 21 fencers, and all finals will have 12 fencers. 

The top nine fencers in each weapon will qualify for the for the National Collegiate Men's and Women's Fencing Championship, which will be held from March 23-26 at Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, N.C.
