Blue Fencing Sees Five Receive USFCA All-Region Recognition

Five Wellesley Fencer were named to the USFCA All-Region team.

WELLESLEY, Mass. - Five Wellesley fencers were named to the U.S. Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) Division III Northeast All-Region team on Monday. Senior Kimberley Kimura (Los Angeles, Calif.), sophomore Elena Vona (Millstone, N.J.), and first year Grace Xu (Toronto, Ontario) all received Division III All-Region honors in epee while senior Alexia Gilioli (New York, N.Y.) and first year Gina Huang (Taipei, Taiwan) were named Division III All-Region team in foil.

Kimura, Xu, Gilioli, and Huang also received Division III All-America honors last week. Kimura was also named to the Northeast All-Region team in 2022.

Kimura won 73 dual meet matches, earned the silver medal in epee at the NEIFC Championships, and placed 27th in epee at the NCAA Regionals. Gilioli won 46 dual meet matches, placed eighth in foil at the NEIFC Championships, and finished 20th in foil at the NCAA Regionals. Vona finished the season with 30 wins in dual matches this past season and placed 22nd in in epee at the NCAA Northeast Regional. Huang earned 51 dual meet victories this season, and finished 18th in foil at the NCAA Regionals. Xu was victorious in 74 dual meet matches this year, in addition to winning the gold medal in epee at the NEIFC Championships and placed 26th in epee at the NCAA Regionals.
