Eight Members of Blue Fencing Earn NFC Academic All-Conference Honors

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Eight members of Wellesley College fencing have been recognized as Northeast Fencing Conference (NFC) Academic All-Conference recipients. Additionally, the Blue earned the Academic All-Conference Team award with a team GPA of 3.53.

Senior Edith Po (Bernardsville, N.J.) made a third trip to the NFC Academic All-Conference. Juniors Makana Burch (Washougal, Wash.), Mia Chao (Washington, D.C.) and Elena Vona (Millstone, N.J.) each received their second Academic All-Confernece accolade. Sophomores Gina Huang (Taipei, Taiwan), Claire Ma (Boston, Mass.), Lily Millard (Selkirk, N.Y.) and Naomi Wang (Boston, Mass.) all picked up the award for the first time.

Chao was recently named to the Eastern Women's Fencing Conference (EWFC) Academic All-Conference Team.

Founded in 1992, the Northeast Fencing Conference's mission is to support intercollegiate fencing in and around New England. The league organizes a round-robin schedule of dual meet competitions for the fencing programs at all member institutions. The member institutions are a mix of both NCAA varsity programs and student-organized club programs.
