Blue Fencing Receives USFCA All-Academic Team Accolade; 11 Claim Individual Honors

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College fencing has been named a United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) All-Academic Team honoree. Additionally, 11 members of the Blue have received individual USFCA honors, including six who have been named Scholars of Distinction.
The Blue are an All-Academic Team for a fourth consecutive year with a 3.54 team GPA.
Senior Edith Po (Bernardsville, N.J.), juniors Makana Burch (Washougal, Wash.) and Mia Chao (Washington, D.C.), sophomores Claire Ma (Boston, Mass.), Gina Huang (Taipei, Taiwan), Lily Millard (Selkirk, N.Y.) and Naomi Wang (Boston, Mass.) and first years Alisha Li (Warren, N.J.), Lauren Khoo (San Francisco, Calif.), Phoebe Li (Palo Alto, Calif.) and Riley Weed (Guilford, Conn.) all received the Individual All-Academic honors. Po, Ma, Millard, A. Li, P. Li and Weed have each been recognized as Scholars of Distinction.
The USFCA recognizes the individual student-athletes and teams based on their combined Fall and Spring semester GPAs (or Fall and Winter quarter GPAs). The USFCA All-Academic Team includes 536 student-athletes with 326 receiving recognition as Scholars of Distinction. All-Academic Team honors are presented to those student-athletes at member institutions who had an in-season GPA of 3.3 or higher. Scholar of Distinction honors are presented to those student-athletes at member institutions who had an in-season GPA of 3.7 or higher.
