Blue Golf Wraps Up Play at Vassar Invitational

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Wellesley College golf wrapped up play on day two of this weekend's 2015 Vassar Invitational at the Casperkill Golf Club. Wellesley shaved ten strokes off the team's round one score to jump from eleventh to tenth place with a team score of 756 at the conclusion of play at the 5,852 yard, Par 72 course.  

Williams College, led by individual champion Shelby Shote (148), took home the team championship with a score of 617. The 12-team tournament also included squads from: Amherst College, Cortland State, Ithaca College, Middlebury College, Mt. Holyoke College, New York University, St. Lawrence University, Union College (NY), William Smith College, as well as host Vassar College. 

With temperatures in the mid-sixties and sunny skies, the Blue recorded a final round 373 after putting up a score of 383 on Saturday. Junior Lei Wei recorded the low score of the weekend for Wellesley, finishing at 181 following a final round score of 91. 

First year Maya Muldowney produced the Blue's lowest score of the final round, coming in at 89 to finish the weekend with a mark of 188. Muldowney put in a great day, improving ten strokes on her round one score of 99.  

Sophomore Jacqueline Lu (96), and first years Emily Smith (97) and Kathleena Inchoco (114) rounded out the Blue quintet competing at this year's Vassar Invitational.  

Wellesley golf will continue the spring season next weekend at the two-day Jack Leaman Invitational, hosted by Amherst College.
