Blue Golf Sets Multiple Program Records at Liberty League Championships
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Wellesley College golf earned runner-up honors for the first time in program history on Saturday at the 2019 Liberty League Championship at the Par-73, 5,804 yard Mohawk Golf Club. The Blue finished with a Liberty League Championships program-record two-day score of 649.
New York University (317-310-627) took home the title and earned the Liberty League's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. The Blue were only six strokes back of the Violets on Saturday (333-316-649) but finished 22 strokes back on the weekend.
A program-record four golfers earned Liberty League All-Conference honors, including three on the first team where first years Aine Kenwood (Potomac, Md.), Audrey Lin (Fremont, Calif.), and Chansie Yang (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) all tied for fifth (+16) with matching scores of 162 for the weekend. First year Hannah Blonder (Westwood, Mass.) was just one stroke back (+17) in eighth place with a total score of 163 to earn All-Conference honors.
Kenwood and Lin each shot a 78 on Saturday, while Yang and Blonder finished with rounds of 80. Two-time Liberty League All-Conference honoree Ryan MacVicar (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) was one stroke back with an 81. MacVicar finished the weekend tied for 15th (+27).
The 2019 Liberty League Championships conclude the 2018-19 season for Wellesley Golf.
