WELLESLEY, Mass. – Graduate student Clare Conway (Billerica, Mass.) scored a game-high five goals and senior Savanna Rosado (Milford, Mass.) made six saves to lead visiting Worcester State University to a 15-1 non-conference victory over Wellesley College lacrosse on a chilly Wednesday evening at Butler Stadium.

The Lancers (5-5 overall) scored 15 unanswered goals to open the contest en route to their third straight victory of the season. Wellesley (2-8 overall) has now lost seven straight contests.

Worcester St. senior Lily Gendron (Lakeville, Mass.) opened the scoring at 9:05 of the first, finishing on a feed from sophomore Ashley Hurley (Feeding Hills, Mass. ). Senior Shea Jarvis (Auburn, Mass.) made the Worcester St. advantage 2-0 less than a minute later before Conway scored the first two of her game-high five goals at 7:19 and 3:06 of the first. Conway finished off a natural hat trick to stretch the lead to 5-0 early in the second. The Lancers took a 9-0 lead into the half when Gendron added her second just 1:39 before the break.

Gendron and first year Abby Vincent (Lakeville, Mass.) each scored a pair of goals in the contest while Jarvis, Hurley, Hannah Erickson (Dunstable, Mass.), Molly Witkowski (Port Jervis, N.Y.), Emily Pavoni (Granby, Mass.) and Abigail Wing (Griswold, Conn.) each added goals for the visitors.

The Lancers continued to build their advantage in the second half, as Conway and Vincent each scored in the third to send the game into the final quarter with the Lancers leading 11-0. Worcester St. took a 15-0 advantage when Erikson scored with 3:02 left in the contest. The Blue broke the shutout bid with 35 seconds left when first year Finley Tipton (Coppell, Texas) scored her 17th goal of the season.

Sophomore Julee Sharma (Lake Mary, Fla.) scooped up six ground balls and classmate Anna Tutek (Trumbull, Conn.) grabbed four more for the Blue. First year Mckayla Fisher (Peabody, Mass.) had a game-high six ground balls for Worcester St. as the visitors finished with a 32-23 edge in ground balls.

Worcester St. outshot the Blue 39-10 with goalies Anna Blake Patrick (Portland, Ore.) and Hannah Pangborn (Raleigh, N.C.) combined to make 19 saves.

The Blue finish off a three-game homestand on Saturday with a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game against Clark at 1:00 PM. The Lancers travel to MCLA for a game on Saturday, also at 1:00 PM.
