WELLESLEY, Mass. – Wellesley College and Roger Williams University played to a 2-2 double overtime tie in women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at the Babson Classic in Wellesley. The result sets the Blue's season mark to 1-0-1, while the Hawks move to 0-1-1.

Wellesley seemed to be on its way to victory, holding a 2-0 lead until the 70th minute. Roger Williams, however, used two late scores to battle back for the tie. Neither team managed a goal in OT, finalizing the 2-2 result.

The Blue opened the scoring in the 22nd minute after a one-touch shot off the foot of Simone Fukuda found the far side of the net for a 1-0 Wellesley advantage. Ava Mokhtari sent the ball in on the corner attempt.

After the break, Wellesley's Ariel Chao scored off a feed from Claire Cerda, knocking a shot from inside the 18 to the top left corner. The goal increased the Blue lead to 2-0 with 40 to play in regulation.

In the 70th minute, Roger Williams narrowed the lead to 2-1, when Hannah Noel's shot went over the head of the Blue keeper.  Howard's goal was assisted by Kristen Tetreault.

The Hawks tied the score at 2-2 in the 85th minute. Maddy Howard hit a chip shot from 12 to beat the Blue keeper and send the game into overtime.

The teams were even in the first overtime period, each recording a shot and a corner kick. Roger Williams controlled the second extra stanza, outshooting the Blue, 4-0, but the Hawks couldn't capitalize and the game ended in the 2-2 tie.

Roger Williams out-shot the hosts, 23-15, including a 12-5 advantage in the second period. Wellesley  edged the Hawks in the corner kick line, 7-3.

In net for Wellesley, S.J. Gray picked up nine saves, while for Roger Williams, Stephanie Jaques posted seven stops.
