Blue Soccer Falls to Endicott, 3-1

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Visiting Endicott College handed the Wellesley College soccer team a 3-1 loss on a rainy afternoon in Wellesley. The result lifts the Gulls season record to 3-1, while Wellesley falls to 1-2-1.

Endicott held a 27-11 advantage in shots, including a dominating 17-2 edge in the first half. The Gulls also led in corner opportunities, 7-2.

Although Endicott controlled much of the action in the first half, it took the visitors over 41 minutes to dent the scoreboard. The Gulls went up 1-0 as a Hannah Schneidenbach pass found the foot of Christina Velluci, who one-touched it for the score.

Endicott would stretch the lead to 2-0 when Nicole Fournier scored in the 60th minute, using a nice spin move to beat the Blue defender.

Wellesley got on the board in the 78th minute, cutting the lead to 2-1 off a long shot for a score from Lena Cardoso. The Blue were unable to shift the momentum, however, as Endicott's Colleen Pepin's 86th-minute goal set the final to 3-1, Gulls.

In net for the Blue, S.J. Gray made 11 saves, facing 27 total shots. For Endicott, Natalie Wyrsh stopped four, earning her third victory of the season.

The Gulls next play on Saturday at 1:00pm, hosting Western New England in their conference opener. Wellesley is back in action on Saturday, hosting Keene State at 1:00pm in the Wellesley Classic.
