WELLESLEY, Mass. - Sophomore Marleigh Ausbrooks (Washington, D.C.) gave Wellesley College soccer an early lead they never gave up in a 3-0 win against Curry College on Wednesday.

Ausbrooks recorded her ninth career goal for Wellesley (5-3) as the team outshot Curry (6-3-1) 15-6, with the Blue putting eight shots on goal.

Ausbrooks' goal came at the 23:39 mark of the first half.  The sophomore would get the ball on a breakaway with only the goalie in front of her, reached back and launched a shot into the back of the net over the head of Curry's keeper.

The score remained 1-0 through the half, but the Blue played with a purpose early in the second half. At the 51:15 mark, first year Elina Saab-Sundén (Palo Alto, Calif.) found the goal on a well placed cross  set up by junior Paige Sangston (Greenwich, Conn.) who got the assist. The goal was Saab-Sundén's first as a member of the Blue while Sangston recorded her team-leading third assist of the season.

Barely a minute had passed when junior Willa McGough (Plainfield, N.H.) found the ball with open space and fired a rocket past Curry's goalie to expand the Blue's lead to 3-0 at the 52:19 mark. This was the first career goal for McGough at Wellesley.

Senior Kendall Lincoln (San Diego, Calif.) and first year Riley McNair (Cupertino, Calif.) recorded a combined shutout in goal for Wellesley, with Lincoln stopping both shots that the Colonels put on goal.

The Blue travel to Smith for a NEWMAC matchup on Saturday at 1 PM. Curry travels to the University of New England on Saturday for a CCC game that begins at 3:30 PM.
