Wellesley Soccer Defeats Mount Holyoke to Finish Season, 3-1

HOLYOKE, Mass. - Wellesley College soccer controlled the offense in a 3-1 in over Mount Holyoke in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference(NEWMAC) game to finish their season on Saturday.

Junior Paige Sangston (Greenwich, Conn.) and sophomore Marleigh Ausbrooks (Washington, D.C.) scored for the Blue (6-7-3 Overall, 1-6-3 NEWMAC). First year Ada Siepmann (Vlotho, Germany) scored the lone goal for the Lyons (2-15-1 Overall, 1-9-0 NEWMAC).

The Blue got on the board at the 37:34 mark when a misdirected deflection resulted in an own goal, giving Wellesley a 1-0 lead.

Sangston doubled the lead early in the second half with her third goal of the season. Classmate Cindy Zeng (Mill Creek, Wash.) had her second assist of the year on the play.

The Lyons cut the lead to 2-1 at the 61:46 mark when Siepmann connected on a shot assisted by sophomore Hannah Keochakian (Amherst, Mass.).

Only 21 seconds later the Blue got the lead back to two when Ausbrooks found the back of the goal for Wellesley. First year Elina Saab-Sundén (Palo Alto, Calif.) recorded an assist on the goal.
