WELLESLEY, Mass. – Senior Thea Feldgoise (Brookline, Mass.) scored a pair of second half goals to lead Wellesley College soccer to a 4-1 win over Simmons University in the team's home opener on Friday.

Trailing 1-0 at halftime, Wellesley (1-0-0) scored four goals in a span of just over four minutes early in the second half to take control of the game. Feldgoise rocketed the first two goals in both the right and left lower corners of the net. Junior Carrie Huang (Seattle, Wash.) set-up the first goal at 46:06 and senior Cindy Zeng (Mill Creek, Wash.) assisted on the second at 47:23.

Zeng then made it 3-1 by connecting on a header, redirected a pass from Feldgoise at 48:07. First year Caroline Min (Bellevue, Wash.) scored her first collegiate goal at the 50:42 mark, finishing on a penalty kick to give the Blue the 4-1 lead.

Wellesley outshot Simmons, 31-1 in the contest and 14-1 in the first half. Despite the edge, it was the Sharks (0-1) who scored first. Graduate student Riley Wasiuk (Rutland, Mass.) converted on a penalty kick in the high left corner for Simmons at the 35:38 mark.

In goal, graduate student Mo Grant (Westbrook, Maine) and sophomore Julia Rodgers (Haverhill, Mass.) each had three saves for the Sharks. Riley McNair (Cupertino, Calif.) earned the win for the Blue after replacing starter Sascha Fleesler (New York, N.Y.) in the second half.

Wellesley stays home next Wednesday, Sept. 6 when Endicott comes for a 4:00 PM match. Simmons plays its home opener on Sunday against Lesley at 11:00 AM.
