Wellesley Soccer and Coast Guard Battle to 0-0 Draw

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Wellesley College soccer fought to a 0-0 tie against Coast Guard in a NEWMAC match on Saturday at Nitchman Field.

Both teams were in top form defensively and limited the amount of offense in the game, as well as the number of shots taken.

The Bears (2-9-1 Overall, 1-3-1 NEWMAC) outshot the Blue (3-3-3 Overall, 2-1-2 NEWMAC) 14-4. Coast Guard took seven corner kicks while limiting Wellesley to two.

Sophomore goalie Sascha Fleesler (New York, N.Y.) made four saves for the Blue while junior Emily Scharnitzky (Charleston, S.C.) stopped two shots for the Bears.

Up next, the Blue host Smith on Wednesday, October 11 at 4:00 PM while Coast Guard welcomes MIT at 7:00 PM on the same day.
