WELLESLEY, Mass. – Graduate student Kaitlin Zareno (Los Angeles, Calif.) and senior Meagan Rowlett (Dana Point, Calif.) each had a goal for No. 14 MIT to give the Engineers (15-3-1 Overall, 9-1 NEWMAC) a 2-0 NEWMAC victory over Wellesley College soccer (3-6-5 Overall, 2-4-4 NEWMAC) on Wednesday at Wellesley Fields Complex.

Zareno gave MIT its first goal at the 19:19 mark with a shot from the right side of the arc that was placed perfectly into the upper left corner of the goal.

At the 88:52 mark, Rowlett dribbled around multiple defenders to set up a shot from halfway inside the box on the left side. The ball cleared the outstretched fingers of Wellesley and into the right side of the goal.

MIT outshot Wellesley 27-13, though both teams took 11 shots in an evenly matched second half. The Engineers took five corner kicks while keeping the Blue to three.

MIT goalie Morgan Everett (Danville, Pa.) made five saves while sophomore goalies Riley McNair (Cupertino, Calif.) and Sascha Fleesler (New York, N.Y.) had five and three stops for the Blue respectively.

Both teams conclude the regular season on Saturday, October 28, with the Blue traveling to Salve Regina at 12:00 and MIT on the road at Emerson at 1:00 PM.
