No. 13 Franklin & Marshall Downs No. 21 Blue Squash

LANCASTER, Pa. -- No. 21 Wellesley College squash concluded a three-match swing in Pennsylvania, dropping an 8-1 final to No. 13 Franklin & Marshall on Thursday evening at the Mayser Center.

The Blue are now 4-3 on the year after going 1-2 this week. Franklin & Marshall improves to 3-9 with the Senior Day victory.

Wellesley got on the board with a victory by junior Audrey Fok (Great Neck, N.Y.) at No. 9. Fok dropped a 9-11 final in the opening game, but countered with three consecutive victories to defeat F & M's Kendyl Kratzer. Fok took the second game 11-6, before grabbing the next two by scores of 11-9 and 11-5.

The Diplomats swept the remaining matchups on the evening. Fiona Murphy downed junior Meera Nayar (Chicago, Ill.) in the top match and Sherilyn Yang bested first year Eva Mullarkey (Locust Valley, N.Y.) at No. 2. At No. 3, Lauren Johnston earned a victory over junior Haley Connor (Boston, Mass.), while at No. 4 Ellen Verry defeated first year Eunbie Coe (Los Angeles, Calif.).

F & M closed out the victory with wins a No. 5, 6, 7 and 8. Katherine Galambos defeated senior Ruby Feng (Old Lyme, Conn.) at No. 5 and Kate O'Brien got by junior Meredith Curry (Medfield, Mass.) at No. 6. At No. 7, Clare Thompson bested sophomore Lumi Kinjo (Tokyo, Japan), while Melissa Epstein grabbed the final Diplomat victory versus first year Elena Ubeda (Natick, Mass.).

Wellesley will take on Dickinson in their next match on Saturday at 10:30 AM at MIT.
