Wellesley Tennis Falls to #6 Amherst

SOUTH HADLEY , Ma – Wellesley tennis, ranked #19 in Division III, fell to #6 Amherst College today, 8-1, at the indoor tennis facility at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA.  The win lifts Amherst to 12-1 on the season, while the Blue fell to 17-6 and snapped a four-match winning streak. 

The Blue dropped all six singles matches to the powerful Jeffs, though Wellesley first-year Marie Watanabe (Houston, TX) pushed Amherst junior Brittany Berckes (Secaucus, NJ) in a 7-6 (7-1), 6-4 loss in #1 singles.  Wellesley's sole win came in #1 doubles, where Mohona Siddique (Chevy Chase, MD) and Jacqueline Shen (Calgary, Alberta, CA) teamed up to hand Berckes and sophomore Natasha Brown (Woodland Hills, CA) an 8-5 loss.
