Wellesley Tennis Falls to Middlebury, 6-3

Atlanta, GA – Wellesley Tennis, short-handed without senior co-captain Jennifer Schwarzkopf, lost 6-3 to MIddlebury today at Smokerise Country club in Stone Mountain, GA.  This was the Blue's first match of the spring break, and while they fought hard, they fell just short.  The team was led by first-year Grace Cheng, who won her #1 doubles match with fellow first-year Marie Watanabe, and then followed it up with an incredible, come-from-behind 3-set victory, 6-7 (5), 6-4, 10-8 superbreaker.  Also cashing in with a victory was sophomore Jacqueline Shen, who posted a 6-0, 6-4 win.

Wellesley returns to action tomorrow at 4pm against Emory. We hope fans who are in the area will come out and cheer.  We want to thank Barbara Wilson, class of '59 and her husband Wiliam, class of '58 (MIT) who drove the 90 minutes from Rome to cheer us on today.  This was also our last day at Smokerise Country Club, and we want to thank them and their members for a wonderful experience.
