Williams Too Powerful for Blue Tennis

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Wellesley College tennis team was overpowered by defending NCAA Champion, Williams College, on Sunday afternoon. The Ephs moved to 1-0 this season, with the 9-0 sweep of the Blue. Wellesley dipped to 3-1.

In doubles play, Wellesley's top team of Diana Granger and Sojung Lee put up the toughest fight, eventually falling 8-4 to Kara Shoemaker and Rebecca Curran of Williams. The Ephs handled Wellesley's second and third teams, winning allowing just one point between the two matches.

In singles, Williams won each match in straight sets to complete the sweep.

Wellesley tennis is back in action this weekend, competing at the ITA Regionals at MIT. The Blue will send three singles players and one doubles team to the event.
