Granger/Lee Named NEWMAC Doubles Team of the Week

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Wellesley College tennis players Diana Granger and Sojung Lee were named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week for the period ending October 22nd. This is the third weekly honor of the season for the pair.

Granger, hailing from Glencoe, Ill., and Lee, a native of Seoul, Korea, went 2-0 for the Blue this week, helping the team to lock up the #2 seed in the NEWMAC Tournament. The pair started the week with a 8-3 win over Sarah Whitaker and Alex Freeman of Babson, as the Blue won, 6-3. Granger and Lee closed out the week with an 8-2 win over Sam Carney and Siana Green of Springfield, as Wellesley won 8-1. 

As a doubles team, Granger and Lee are 10-3 overall, with a 5-1 NEWMAC record at number one doubles.

Wellesley tennis finished second in the NEWMAC with a 6-1 conference record. The Blue received a bye in the quarterfinal round of the NEWMAC tournament, slated to begin on Wednesday. Wellesley will open their playoff action on Saturday at Wheaton, playing #3 seed, Babson College.
