#19 Tufts Too Much for Wellesley Tennis

MEDFORD, Mass. -- The 27th-ranked Wellesley College tennis team suffered a 9-0 loss at the hands of #19 Tufts University on Saturday afternoon in Medford. The setback dips Wellesley's season mark to 8-4, while the Jumbos improve to 3-4.

Wellesley challenged at number one doubles, but Tufts proved to be too much throughout both singles and doubles.

The Blue's Diana Granger and Sojung Lee nearly pulled off a victory at one doubles, falling to Shelci Bowman and Lauren Hollender of Tufts in a tiebreaker, 9-7. The Jumbos completed the doubles sweep with an 8-0 win at two and an 8-1 win at three.

In singles play, Lee took her opponent to a tiebreaker in the second set, but fell to Samantha Gann, 6-3, 7-5 at two. Each of the other matches went against the Blue in straight sets.

Wellesley will look to rebound on Friday, beginning play in the three-day Nor'easter Bowl, co-hosted with Brandeis University. A full schedule and complete seedings for the event will be available on Tuesday.
