Six Wellesley Tennis Players Earn All-Conference Honors
WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Wellesley College tennis team took home several post-season awards on Tuesday, as announced by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). Six Wellesley student-athletes represented the Blue on the NEWMAC All-Conference team.
All three of Wellesley's top doubles pairs earned an All-Conference nod, while senior Kendall Tada and first-year Samantha Stone also earned All-Conference honors in singles.
The Blue's number one doubles pair of junior Sojung Lee and first-year Carina Chen went undefeated in NEWMAC play to earn their spot on the team. Lee is a three-time All-Conference honoree, while Chen makes her first All-Conference appearance in her first year eligible.
Wellesley first-years Andjela Stojkovic and Lina Ye paired up to grab an All-Conference nod at number two doubles. The classmates went 5-1 at the second spot for the Blue, 5-2 overall in conference play.
Wrapping up the doubles All-Conference selections, Tada and Stone earned the honor at number three. The pair recorded a 6-1 overall record in NEWMAC play, including a 2-0 mark when sliding up to play at number two.
Wellesley's Stone and Tada also earned singles All-Conference honors. Stone was named All-Conference at number five singles, carrying a 5-1 mark in NEWMAC play. At number six, Tada earned All-Conference with a 5-2 overall record, including playing as high as number three for the Blue.
After finishing the fall as NEWMAC Runner-up, the Wellesley tennis team will now look ahead the spring season, slated to begin in March.
