No. 24 Blue Tennis Tops Colby to Open Florida Trip

WELLESLET, Mass. – No. 24 Wellesley College tennis cruised to an 8-1 victory over Colby College on Tuesday afternoon at the Lake Cane Tennis Center in Orlando, Florida. Wellesley improves to 9-3 overall with its first victory of the spring.

The Blue swept the doubles matchups, as the Wellesley duo of Sojung Lee and Carina Chen earned an 8-3 victory at number one over Erica Talamo and Holly Bogo. At number two, Emily Olson and and Caroline Hsu eased to an 8-1 victory over Danielle Levine and Maddie Lupone. Wellesley's Dasha Kostikina and Samantha Stone also defeated Olivia Stein and Annie Morris at number three (8-3).

Colby's lone victory of the day came in singles, as Maddie Lupone defeated Caroline Hsu (6-1, 6-4) in the number three matchup.

The Blue captured the remaining five singles matches, led by a 6-0, 6-1 victory by Lee over Talamo at number one. Chen topped Bogo at number two (6-1, 6-4), while Stone defeated Levine (6-2, 6-0), Olson topped Ryan (6-1, 6-0) at number five and Kostikina earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Jamie Au at number six.

The Blue will return to the Lake Cane Tennis Center tomorrow morning for an 8:00 AM match with the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater.
